SERVER MANAGEMENT

Consumers and enterprises can choose from four packaged support options to manage servers hosted with Thruport: Dedicated, Managed, and Ultimate Care packages 1 and 2.

  Dedicated Package ($0/month)

- 0 included hours
- $125/hour
- Shared root access

  Included Monitors:

1 - Ping
Optional RAID

  OS software installation and basic configuration.
One network PING monitor.

Thruport will proactively notify customer if the server fails to respond to network PING requests.
Thruport will replace any failed hardware component.
Thruport will restore operating system to original release specifications upon hard drive failure resulting in loss of logical volume containing operating system files.
 

  Managed Package ($79/month)

- 0 included hours
- $95/hour
- Shared root access

1 - CPU Utilization
1 - Free Disk Space
Optional RAID

  Unlimited reboots.
OS software installation and basic configuration.
OS system administration and support.
Basic system monitors.

Thruport will proactively apply operating system and embedded software security patches at least on a weekly frequency.
Thruport will proactively notify customer if the server fails to respond to network PING requests.
Thruport will proactively notify customer if a disk volume's free space falls beneath a critical threshold for more than 30 minutes.
Thruport will proactively notify customer if the server's CPU utilization rises above a critical threshold for more than 30 minutes.
Thruport will replace any failed hardware component.

Thruport will work with customer to implement up to two (2) custom transaction monitors. These monitors can be configured to log into a web-based application, checking for appropriate content matches, etc.
Thruport will also establish custom troubleshooting procedures to follow in case of failure of the system or any customer software.
Thruport will establish and proactively execute established custom system troubleshooting procedures before contacting customer to escalate the problem.
 

The first option - Dedicated - means that only the customer has root access on the server and is fully responsible for supporting and maintaining issues with the server's operating system, disk management, application software, protocols, etc. Since Thruport's engineers do not have control over the server, except for hardware failures, we provide incremental support under separate professional services agreements.

Selecting a Managed server, Thruport is assigned exclusive root access, and the monthly fee includes support for the operating system, related patches and upgrades, and system and disk management. For servers under any Ultimate Care management package, Thruport supports the operating system, patches and upgrades, system and disk management, as well as the protocol and port configuration for the following services bundled with the Operating System:

  • Web Servers (HTTP)
  • Secure Servers/Commerce (HTTPS)
  • Mail Exchangers (SMTP)
  • Mail Servers (IMAP/POP3)
  • File Transfer (FTP)
  • Management & Monitoring (SNMP)
